Operations are the heart of the Coast Guard Auxiliary mission ... and Division 1 Auxiliarists are there to help, whether patroling the Patapsco River shipping channel or cruising the central Chesapeake Bay. Division 1 always stands ready to help.

Operational training

Member Qualifications

Members are trained so that they can participate in operations. Training includes boat-handling, navigation, as well as search and rescue. Advanced training is also available in weather, communications, and meteorology.

Helicopter operations

Team Coast Guard

Auxiliarists provide important support to the U.S. Coast Guard and are considered members of Team Coast Guard. Patrols often participate in search and rescue. Additionally, special patrols check navigational markers, update charts, and monitor local waters for hazards and environmental pollution.

Boating Events

Auxiliarists take an active role in securing spectator areas at regattas and other boating events. At the request of the Coast Guard, patrols assist in maintaining safe perimeters for on-the-water events.
