The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is an organization of civilian volunteers—part of the U. S. Coast Guard team—who help promote safety among recreational boaters. We offer boating safety classes, vessel safety checks, on-water boater-assistance patrols and marine environmental protection programs. We also help maintain buoys, daybeacons and other aids to navigation. And we help U.S. Coast Guard and state officials carry out a wide array of other missions.

If you pass our boating safety course, you'll meet state requirements for a Certificate of Boating Safety Education, which is mandatory for all boaters born after June 30, 1972. If your boat passes our safety inspection, you'll receive a special decal that will show the Coast Guard, marine police —and other boaters— that your boat has the minimum safety equipment required by federal regulations. You may want to sign up for one of these programs—or even consider joining us. Our local flotilla's area of responsibility includes the Magothy River (on the west side of the Chesapeake Bay, just north of the Bay Bridge) and the surrounding area. Click here to see a chart.

Just click on one of these items, and you'll be connected automatically to an information page and the e-mail address of the flotilla officer who can best help you. Leave us a message. We'll get back to you right away!
