Flotilla 13 Public Education ClassesTraining for 2008 is in session. Please join use - our classes are very informational and will increase your knowledge and safety in the pleasure of boating. We are proud to be of service to you. Flotilla 13 has Four Classes running in 2008 - Late Winter, Spring and Fall Classes are available! Maryland law states that anyone born on or after July 1, 1972 must possess a certificate of boating safety education in order to operate any motorized vessel. This certificate is non-renewable and must be carried by the operator at all times while operating a vessel. Officers may or may not ask to see the certificate during a vessel check and, if not provided, you can be charged with a minimum of $25.00 for the first offense and up to $500.00 for each offense thereafter. Basic Boating and Seamanship The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S) course is a comprehensive course designed for both the experienced and the novice boater. The above schedule is subject to change when the instructors become faced with unforeseen circumstances. When possible, you will be notified. Should the day school be CLOSED to bad weather, the night class will be POSTPONED to the next scheduled date. BS&S Classes begin at 1900 (7PM) and will run approximately two hours with one short break. Please sign the attendance sheet at the door on arriving. If you arrive late, please sign the sheet before you leave. ABCS Classes begin at 0900 (9AM) and will run approximately four hours with two short breaks. Please sign the attendance sheet at the door on arriving. If you arrive late, please sign the sheet before you leave. For homework, answer the study guide questions for the last lesson taught and read the chapter for the next lesson and final exam. To be awarded a certificate, a score of 80% or higher must be made on the final exam. This allows no more than 10 out of 50 questions to be wrong.
